2006

History galore was made during the 2006 race. Julianne Littmann, the greatest runner in Alumni women's history, broke Art Gunther's all-gender record with her fourth consecutive win. Tim Cox became Suffern's first individual winner, male or female. The Clarkstown North men extended their record streak of consecutive wins to six, in the process setting a record for wins in an eight-year span (seven), and equaling Albertus Magnus' all-time record of eight team titles. The North women followed suit, giving the Rams the team sweep for the second time in five years, becoming the fourth pair ever to do it (following Pearl River in '84 and '92, and North in '02).

Results are quite abbreviated. Jamie once again provides the story:

"Last Saturday evening around 6:15 p.m., the cards and timing tape were scattered across Route 303 in Blauvelt and blowing all over the place. I spent an hour dodging cars trying to retrieve as many as possible. Myself and George Hoy picked up 183 cards that night. The next morning, I went back and managed to pick up 18 more, which were soggy from the night frost and morning dew. That left about 15 cards unaccounted for.

"The problem is, only the first 67 cards had place numbers on them. I found the soggy Chronomix tape Sunday morning, so we have all the times, but places #68 through 216 are unknown. Mike Collins suggested my sending a mass e-mail requesting people to provide us their finishing places, but fewer than 1/3 of the entrants gave us an e-mail address. And trusting people's memory for their exact place is chancy.

"Someone suggested hiring a results guy to do the scoring next year, but A) where would the money come from? and B) That would depart from the spirit of the event as we have maintained it.

"Not sure this year's results snafu will be easily solved."

Ah, nuts. Anyway, if you do know your place and time, e-mail me and I'll update as best as possible. In the meantime, I can update most of the records; the main problems are going to be with the participation totals, and determining whose streaks are still intact. If you have a solution, let me know.
