1993

This is a special year for me. I graduated from North in June and ran my first Alumni Run on Thanksgiving Saturday (there I am at the bottom, in 27th place). After our 1992 cross-country campaign, my fellow classmates and I figured to lead the Rams back to Alumni glory. It didn't quite work out that way (at least not for a few years), but it was fun to get back to the old stomping grounds, even though I was on a two-year hiatus from competitive running and wouldn't rejoin my college team until my junior year.

Paul Sklar became the first male runner to win consecutive titles, beating out the ageless Jamie Kempton. Albertus won yet again for the men, and I experienced firsthand just how dominant their dynasty was. Their 67-point margin of victory over Clarkstown South was, at the time, the largest in race history. The combined scoring bothers me to no end, but this year the standings are not affected (though Nanuet's men pick up nearly 100 points in the adjusted scoring). Pearl River again forms the only complete women's team, thereby taking their fourth title. R.C Ketcham's Marisa Sutera runs an astounding 17:41 to break Rita Keahon's four-year-old course record by 16 seconds. She places 33rd overall and gives me quite a scare.
