2013

And then there was one.

Larry Beckerle, the former Albertus Magnus star and the longtime coach of the Nanuet girls' XC team, finally outlasted fellow Albertus alum Pat Chambers, the 1983 Alumni champ, becoming the only runner to have finished all 31 Alumni races.  I don't want to speculate on the nefarious methods Beckerle may have employed that resulted in Pat's father's hospitalization, thus ensuring triumph in this three-decades-old competition.  Congrats to Coach Beckerle and to Mr. Chambers as well on a rather amazing accomplishment.

Monroe-Woodbury repeated their dominance of the previous year, sweeping the mens', womens', and participation titles.  The mens' team needed a herculean effort from the Trautmann brothers to hold off a pesky, if undermanned, Clarkstown North side.  If all we need is a former Olympian to come back and help us reclaim the team title, I'm sure we have nothing to worry about.  The womens' race was again only a two-team affair, which the Lady Crusaders handled with ease.  Caile Kohlbrenner won her third straight womens' title, becoming the first woman to crack the top 30 overall.  Carlos Jamieson repeated for the men.
